Description

We invite you to join us on Friday, April 3, from 10:00–11:30 a.m. in the Viking Union MPR for The State of The Centers Address.

This program will consist of two parts. First, we will highlight the impactful work that The Centers for Student Access, Community, and Intercultural Engagement (The Centers) has been doing over the past year. This event is open to staff, faculty, and students who are interested in learning more about the services and programs offered through the Disability Access Center, Disability Outreach Center, LGBTQ+ Western, and Multicultural Student Services (Blue Resource Center, Black Student Coalition, Ethnic Student Center, and La Plaza). We will share updates on our work, preview upcoming programs, and discuss ways the campus community can support and engage with these efforts.

Many in our campus community have also expressed concern about the layoffs that occurred in the summer of 2025 and the impact they have had on our areas’ ability to continue providing services and support. During this event, you will hear updates from each of our areas, learn more about how these changes have affected our work, and explore ways you can help make a meaningful difference.

The second half of the program will feature a student panel. Students will share their experiences working with The Centers, how they have received support, and what meaningful support looks like for them moving forward.

This program is great for folks wanting to know more about our support services. Also, many of you have asked how you can help, support, and advocate for this work. We invite you to join us as we share more about our efforts and explore ways to stay involved.

One way to practice support, is through sharing this invitation with at least three colleagues, students, or community members who may benefit from attending.

We also hope to make this an annual event that allows us to engage with the community, share the great work taking place across our areas, strengthen collaboration, and spread the word about the resources available through The Centers.

Light refreshments will be served, and we hope to see you there.

Please also join us later that afternoon for the Trans Visibility Celebration Event on Friday, April 3, from 1:00–5:00 p.m. in the VU MPR.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
